Nor Cal Four Wheeling Resources

Apply a Little Common Sense When Enjoying The Great Sport of Four Wheeling in Northern California Outdoors!

Environmental Organizations Are Watching, Taking Notes, & Reporting Every Stupid Move We Make

Four-wheeling activities in Northern California and everywhere else are being subjected to a thorough scrutinizing by environmental organizations who have the ears of our regulators, and they are hell bent on elimination of  these activities from our public lands. Unfortunately for us, there is a certain amount of justification for this scrutiny, because there are a still some uneducated, knuckle-headed people out there providing these organizations with evidence that improper use of off road vehicles can and does cause damage to the environment. So, If we intend to preserve our right to continue using our public lands for recreational activities like four wheeling, we must put a stop to the abusive behavior that is adding fuel to the environmental organizations' case that is being brought against the entire Four Wheel and Off Road community.
At Nor Cal Outdoor we enjoy four-wheeling as much as anybody. We even like to take our rigs off-road just to see what they are capable of, just like most enthusiasts do. But we have gotten into the habit of doing all of our four-wheeling in either designated areas or on private property where we are not causing damage to the environment. On occasion we do have a need to utilize four-wheel drive to get to the places we are headed, but we always stay on designated roads or trails, and we do not leave our trash behind for someone else to find. We firmly believe that if everyone were to do the same, pressure from the environmental groups would be reduced and we would stand a better chance of presenting "our case" when the time comes.

The Voice Of The 4x4 Community Regarding Land Use Decisions

All of us have an opportunity to be involved in the Land Use Decision Making Process. Even if it is only in the form of a signature on a petition, our elected officials need to hear our call for inclusion in the considerations of what they are doing to impact our sport.

Four Wheeling: More than a pastime, it's a way of life!

Thanks to the introduction of four door pick-ups, modernized Jeeps, and the ever popular SUV it is safe to estimate that nearly one in three vehicles on the road today  have some sort of four-wheel drive capability. We are here to tell you that it is readily apparent that Four-wheeling has become more than just a favorite pastime, for some, it's a way of life! And thousands of people all over the country, including yours truly, have taken up this sport/hobby/lifestyle, developing  a community of enthusiasts, and taking the lead in education, information and management in an effort to instill and maintain a better image of the Off Road industry and the individuals who partake in the activities associated with it.

A vast majority of the Off-Road Community is made up of normal, everyday people like you & I, who respect and admire the environment as much as anyone. We work all week to support our families, and when pay-day comes, hopefully we will have enough leftover to enjoy our hobbies. We want to be able to get out and do something fun and exciting. For Four Wheeling enthusiasts, this might mean grabbing up the spouse, kids and maybe even the Dog and heading out into the back country for a little four wheeling excursion.

A lot of us would never even have the opportunity to witness the grandeur of our back country if it weren't for the ability to get out there and explore the back roads and trails that meander throughout our National Parks, Forests, and BLM lands. It is this ability to experience Mother Nature, that instills in us the desire to preserve it as well as all of our Natural Resources. This in turn, keeps us in tune to what our government and it's many entities are doing to preserve, or eliminate our rights to utilize them.

Jeep in the Snow As the number of four-wheel drive vehicle owners increase, so does the number of people driving them off road. This would be okay if all of these people driving their rigs off road knew how to operate their vehicles responsibly, but unfortunately many don't. Due to the fact that common sense & sensibility are not prerequisites to owning a four-wheel drive vehicle, education regarding responsible off road vehicle use is inevitably learned through the school of trial and error. Which means that a lot of errors can be made before people even realize that what they are doing could be detrimental to the environment and ultimately, our sport. This is why we need to be vigilant in stepping up to the plate when we see people committing acts of "irresponsibillity" that can lead to further restrictions and possibly, a total elimination of our "right" to continue to utillize public lands for "responsible" off road activities.
