Mountain Hardwear EV 3 Tent

Mountain Hardwear EV 3 Tent 3-Person 4-Season Tent

Mountain Hardwear EV 3 Tent 3-person 4-season

Mountain Hardwear teamed up with world-class mountaineer Ed Viesturs to make the EV 3 Tent tough and light enough for life in the high mountains. This single-wall design shaves several pounds off the weight of similar double-wall tents. After all, it’s hard enough to walk at 8000 meters.

  • Conduit FR fly provides weather protection and fights internal condensation
  • Minimalist floor space saves time cutting tent platforms at ABC
  • External pole clips let you pitch this tent without having to open a door
  • Atlas Scandium poles save weight while increasing strength
  • SVX windows let you check the weather without opening a zipper

Bottom Line: Tested in the world’s harshest environments.

EV3

Love it! Warm, well ventilated for cold weather, guy'd out well, pitches quickly, many mesh pockets keeping small gear at easy reach, light weight for its size, loop on the inside top for attaching light for reading. Plenty of room for 2 plus equipment, questionable at best for 3 (I wouldn't do it, it'll be much too personal). Looks awesome. Don't forget the EV3 Footprint.

Great Tent but could use mesh door

Just returned from 7 day trip in the mountains of Colorado and Utah. The EV3 was fantastic. Light, easy and quick to set up and break down, warm and well ventilated. It is palatial quarters for two persons and all their gear, with plenty of room to sprawl. One night of the trip featured particularly high winds and, with the guys staked tight, the tent was "unflappable." Most of the other parties were awake most of the night as their tents flapped and generally blew about in the winds, but we had no trouble sleeping. The only minor complaint is the lack of an inner mesh door. I know that this is a "stripped down" mountaineering tent, but the slight additional weight would greatly extend the utility of this tent, since, while the ventilation is generally excellent, you need to make a choice between ventilation and bugs once you are at lower elevations. Overall though, quite pleased with this tent. It will clearly be my first choice tent for higher elevations and fall/winter trips.
